Soon-to-be-postdoc Basti Stockmaier just published a paper in Science entitled Infectious Diseases and Social Distancing in Nature.

Our collaborator Liz Hobson just published a paper in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences entitled Aggression heuristics underlie animal dominance hierarchies and provide evidence of group-level social information.

I recently joined the Board of Directors at Bat Conservation International and their scientific advisory committee. Although I’m not a conservation biologist, I initially started out in natural resource management and conservation as an undergraduate. I later became fascinated by social evolution and behavioral ecology in graduate school, but it was always in the back of my mind that I wanted to use my lifetime to make contributions to bat conservation and to environmental conservation more generally. I’ve always been an active supporter of conservation, environmental advocacy, and addressing the climate change crisis, but it has not been a big part of professional life. Being more involved with Bat Conservation International has been one way to fulfill that promise to myself.
